Music is available a day early

This week all music releases go on sale on Monday instead of on Tuesday. This could be for one of two reasons. 9/30 is the cutoff date for the Grammy awards. That means that albums released tomorrow, 10/1 will be eligible for the 2015 Grammy awards. By then, nobody will care about a 14 month old CD. It definitely is to the artist’s advantage to get into the 2014 awards if possible.

It’s also been speculated that a certain mega pop star wanted his CD to come out a day early in order to influence the Billboard chart.

Whatever the reason, it means you don’t have to wait until midnight for the new albums by Lorde, Deltron 3030, Rush, Justin Timberlake, Haim, Nelly, The Wood Brothers, Blind Boys of Alabama, Joan Jett, Those Darlins, All Time Low, etc. Check out the full list of this week’s releases.
