MEET AUTHOR Z.RIDER!
MEET & GREET/SIGNING/COLORING PARTY!
SALEM, NH BULL MOOSE!
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH 7PM-8PM!
Z. Rider’s first love is horror, and her first horror novel, SUCKERS was released on February 17, 2015. INSYLUM, followed in June, and MAN MADE MURDER, book one of the Blood Road trilogy, comes out in October, all from Dark Ride Publishing.
MAN MADE MURDER, will be available for purchase early at the Salem meet & greet!
Z. believes that authors have the biggest stake in the success of their books and are therefore the best people to control the publishing of their books. She also believes that fear is a powerful and universal emotion, that our fears are inexorably bound to all that we stand to lose—from the mundane to the things we hold most precious. That’s the horror Z most enjoys reading; that’s the horror she strives to write.
Z. Rider spent her formative years hanging out in billiard halls, rec rooms, and wherever else she could find a pool table—not that it’s made her an especially good player, but it is great for shutting up the noise in her head. She used to test air-to-ground missiles for the Air Force. And she enjoys being crammed against the front of a stage in small, dark clubs across the Southeast while her favorite hard-working, underrated bands kill her over and over with their music.
Born and raised in southern New Hampshire, these days Z. lives in the mountains of northeast Tennessee with her husband, two dogs, and a skeleton named Knuckles.
Z. is a member of the Horror Writers Association and the Alliance of Independent Authors.
Meet Children’s author & illustrator Russ Cox at the Bull Moose in Scarborough on Saturday August 15th from 10-12PM!
Join us for a reading, drawing demo & signing of his new book Faraway Friends!
This is the story of the adventure of a little boy named Sheldon and his dog, Jet. When Sheldon’s best friend moves away, Sheldon spies the word “Jupiter” painted on the side of the moving truck. Sheldon feels sad at first, but realizes that this is a sign—what he needs is a rocket ship! So Sheldon and Jet do some sketching and some scrounging, and, with a wagon full of equipment and supplies, the two future astronauts head to the backyard. With a glop and a wham, piece by piece the ship begins to take form, and soon it’s Commander Sheldon A. Flyer and Space Cadet Jet ready for takeoff! The duo jets around satellites, zooms by planets, speeds through space storms, and zips past other flying saucers . . . until plop, they’ve arrived, somewhere with a green, alien life-form and a furry black blob
This book encourages children to channel loneliness and boredom with creativity and imagination, and ultimately it is a story of new friendship. Featuring vibrant illustrations by debut author and illustrator Russ Cox, this action-packed story is sure to appeal to young readers in search of something that is out of this world!
He has illustrated Freddy the Frogcaster series (Regnery Kids), written by Janice Dean; Puppy Pirates series (Penguin Random House) written by Erin Sodersberg; Merry Moosey Christmas (Islandport Press), written by Lynn Plourde; and many other children’s books. Faraway Friends (Sky Pony Press) is his first book as both author and illustrator.
